Ketchikan Merchants Second Game A Tie

Thursday - 12:30 pm

The Ketchikan Merchants Baseball Club's second game played in Edmonds, Washington against the Edmonds Rebels Wednesday evening ended in a tie with the score 1 to 1.

Manager and Head Coach Fred Bass said it was "kind of unusual for baseball but we are on a time limit and we played on a field with no lights and it got dark."

Coach Bass reported that Brandon Eubanks pitched 8 strong innings challenging the hitters with a good fastball and curve and Ryan Hendricks came in in the 9th and didn't allow a base runner.

Bass said the Merchants bats were slowed, not due to pitching but to the newness of playing with wooden bats. Ketchikan left 9 runners on base and could not get a timely hit, but played good defense and again a great ball game was pitched by Brandon Eubanks.

The Ketchikan Merchants play a double header against the South Sound Sharks today in Puyallup,Washington.

The Ketchikan Merchants Baseball Club was started to give youth interested in playing baseball a competitive team to join. The Merchants is a traveling team for players 16, 17 and 18 years of age.
