'Kids All-American Fishing
Derby 2003'

Ketchikan, AK - Rain did not dampen the enthusiasm displayed
at the 'Kids All-American Fishing Derby' held Saturday morning
at City Park. This fun & lively event was well attended with
approximately 30 participants in each age group.
The age groups for the Fishing
Derby were 3-5 year olds, 6-8 year olds and 9-11 year olds. The
City Park ponds were stocked with rainbow trout for this event
only.
The Ketchikan Gateway Borough
Parks and Recreation Department organized Saturday's 'Kids All-American
Fishing Derby' event sponsored by Wal-Mart. Parents and numerous
other volunteers assisted the younger derby participants. Many
of the volunteers assisting in the event were from the United
States Forest Service, including Smokey the Bear.
