Samuel Bergeron
Candidate For Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Council

Thanks to all who take the time to view this brief outline as to why I choose to run. The main reason I'm in this race is to make the connection between KIC and the borough for

the betterment of us all.

We need to all pull together as a community to seek out any and all economic opportunities that may come our way. The next and greatest hope for our fair town is the much -vaunted "maritime study". This study will determine what industries would be viable. I will as member of both the Borough Assembly and as KIC Tribal council member work tirelessly to create new employment opportunities for our members and the community at large. It is my vision to employ as many of our members as wish to work. I want you to think of me as the guy who is all about economic development and also as one who believes.

The only reason I set myself up for the kind of grief that comes with being an elected official is the fact that "I believe". I believe that the answers for the economic woes that face us are within our grasp to repair. I believe that with the help of some learned people and some wise funding sources and policy makers who have vision we can and will once again be a viable, thriving and bustling small town that is a great place to live. I love Ketchikan and the people who live here. I care about the people who choose to make this beautiful place their home. It is my prayer and dream that we will build a place with a future for your kids and mine to have a future that includes a good career and a healthy environment. I want you all to know what I say all the time about leadership. "Leadership isn't anything, it's everything". You now have an opportunity to vote on a slate of candidates that are pro-development and pro growth. Both are essential for the good of us all. This election more than anything else is about where we want go. Do we want to spend our time on personnel policy issues or should we concern ourselves with building the greatest native organization in the country with a thriving economic base? I vote the latter. God Bless. Sam
