the Month for June

Ketchikan, AK - Bonnie Olson, LPN, has been chosen Ketchikan
General Hospital (KGH) Employee of the Month by a committee of
her peers. Olson has been employed by KGH since September 1981.
Until recent years, Olson cared for the residents in the Long
Term Care Unit. In 2000 she accepted a new position in the Community
Health Record project, an enormous undertaking which put each
patient's medical chart into a computerized record. Her present
job duties in that regard include: orienting new hires to PeaceHealth
computer applications; training computer users on new modules;
ensuring and maintaining security of the medical information;
issuing ID badges and programming locks; and general troubleshooting
in all areas of the computerized medical record.
The co-worker who nominated
her stated: "The most recent evidence of her hard work and
care is the success of the General Admission History go-live
this past month. Bonnie worked many, many hours tailoring
the system and meeting with nurses and managers to make sure
it would all go smoothly, and it did."
Olson's service to KGH has
included her participation on many committees: she worked on
the Policy and Procedure Committee for 15 years, has served on
the Disaster Committee, and currently serves on both the Safety
and the Ethics Committees.
The award of Employee of the Month at KGH recognizes those who
regularly go above and beyond what is required, to provide high
quality service to patients, visitors and co-workers.
