"I am feeling great and Nancy and I just want to thank everyone for all of their concern and kind thoughts. I would also like to thank the staff at both the Bartlett Regional Hospital and the Providence Alaska Medical Center for taking such good care of me. I really appreciate it. Alaskans are lucky to be served by these medical professionals. "Providence is a great facility and for anybody who's contemplating having anything like this, there's no better place to go. It's terrific to see that we've got these types of capabilities here in Alaska, particularly in Anchorage. When they said, 'Hey we want to check you out. You can go north or south, we've got the airplane and can go either way,' I said, 'Let's go north' and it was certainly the right decision. I'm very pleased. The doctors were terrific and the nurses too," Murkowski said. When asked about the timeline and decision to go to Providence, Murkowski said that he felt lightheaded after returning to Juneau on Tuesday night and assumed it was dehydration. "I never did have any pain," said Murkowski. "When I ran out of that airplane on Tuesday and ran for the restroom - I'd been sitting for two and a half hours, and I kind of felt faint. There evidently was some restriction that nobody knew was there. There was no pain, no heart attack. "We didn't know what it was because when we left Juneau the EKGs didn't say anything, and they said well, we'd better send you up so we can get an opinion on what's causing this dizziness and lightheadedness. Doctors' orders are to get back to work, and get some exercise regularly. And I am ready to do both. The business of Alaska is waiting, and I am excited to get back into the swing of things. "
