Brown will discuss the development of Northwest Coast Native art by using slides, historical texts, photographs and artifacts from the Ketchikan Museums collection. This class is a must for anyone who works with Northwest Coast Native art seasonally or year-round, or has an interest in learning more about this centuries-old art form. It is also a requirement for the Totem Heritage Center Certificate of Merit. Brown, a respected carver from Sequim, Washington, is the author of Native Visions: Evolution in Northwest Coast Art from the Eighteenth through the Twentieth Century. He has taught a wide variety of classes at the Totem Heritage Center over the last two decades.
