Great Guided Tours and Other Visitor Experiences February 14, 2003
On Monday, April 14, the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) will present a regional workshop in Ketchikan entitled Great Guided Tours and Other Visitor Experiences: Theme-Based Interpretation for People who Work with Visitors. According to information provided by Rici Peterson, this hands-on workshop is designed for people who want to communicate effectively with vistiors in any setting, from parks to museums, flightseeing trips to cruises. Peterson says it's a great introduction to interpretation for new staff or volunteers, and a good review for "old hands". Peterson notes that participants
will learn the essential ingredients of great tours, walks, talks,
and other visitor experiences; discover how theme-based interpretation
can change a "ho-hum" visit into a "wow experience"
for their guests; practice step-by-step methods to create programs
that are fun, memorable, even inspirational; and take home a
blueprint for their own theme-based tour, ready to use -- along
with new skills that will last a lifetime. Instructor Rici Peterson,
owner of interpretive consulting firm Attending Marvels of Santa
Fe, New Mexico, is a Certified Interpretive Trainer with NAI.
Advance registration is necessary; register early to secure your space. Download a printable registration form from the Attending Marvels website.
